It's interesting how the marked plumage looks as if it has woodpecker holes.

    Red-headed Woodpecker

I went back to the only place I know that I have seen them and bingo I got him. I will keep going back there to see him. My wife and I watched him. He had set a pattern from flying one tree to another tree. He was going to an Oak Tree and getting acorns and then finally to his nest I presume...

    Brown-headed Nuthatch

I haven't seen any new birds so I'm submitting this great looking Nuthatch I captured in the backyard the other day with great lighting. These guys have the sweetest little voices.
  14. Red-bellied Woodpecker.

    Red-bellied Woodpecker.

I know I have posted a Red-bellied Woodpecker here recently but it turned out so well and it's on a tree for laughing out loud. These guys are so colorful.
  15. Downy Woodpecker, Female.

    Downy Woodpecker, Female.

I prefer songbirds or yard birds over waterbirds etc.. This photo was taken one cold morning this week and the lighting was especially kind on her beautiful face.
  16. Red-bellied Woodpecker.

    Red-bellied Woodpecker.

It's been a while since I have posted one of these. I got him yesterday on the suet block and a tree but a course he looks better on the block instead of the tree. I never get tired of viewing these bright-colored woodpeckers. They are one of my favorite birds up there with the Pileated...

    Male Red-bellied Woodpecker

I have taken a lot of pictures of the Red-bellied Woodpecker but this one struck me kind of funny. I particularly like how his hair looks on top. The substance on his face is from the Suet Block. Sometimes they look like they washed up nice and this one is very bright in his colors.
  18. Northern Flicker

    Northern Flicker

Today I went birding and I'm disappointed. I saw a Cedar Waxwing for my first time and took a series of photos only once and the lighting wasn't that good. I saw beautiful things but somedays the camera can only do so much and this was one of those days. The conditions just didn't work well...

    Northern "Yellow-shafted" Flicker

Today I went to Magnolia Plantation and Gardens and had a very productive day. I'm happy with my photos and saw a lot of beautiful birds and plants. Like KC told me one time you got to go to a different place when I spoke of my dissatisfaction with my birding in my backyard.
  20. Brown-headed Nuthatch

    Brown-headed Nuthatch

It was cold that morning and I see he has big hair for the occasion. Generally, it's the Swamp Heat we have for reality here.

    Male Red Bellied Woodpecker

Now I have been seeing them more. Took this yesterday and he looks really healthy and his plumage extra clean.
  22. Downy Woodpecker (Male)

    Downy Woodpecker (Male)

These are always cute looking fellas and not really timid either.
  23. Male Downy Woodpecker

    Male Downy Woodpecker

Fresh just took it an hour or so ago. Outside it's a cool 86 degrees and only 67 percent humidity. Man Fall is coming. :)
  24. White-breasted Nuthatch

    White-breasted Nuthatch

Here he is Delia upside down like he is supposed to be. Still battling the heat and nothing new I have been able to snare lately.
  25. Juvenile Female Red breasted woodpecker

    Juvenile Female Red breasted woodpecker

Looks like me a little salt and pepper but fortunately, she will improve with time for laughing out loud.
