4 weeks tropical birding with the Zeiss SFL 8x30 (2 Viewers)

Yes, there were some big crocs, the biggest maybe 3-4 m. And indeed plenty of wildlife, and often easy to see. We saw all 4 monkey species, the 2 sloth sp, Coati, Racoon, Humpback Whales, White Tent-making Bat and other bats, several snakes, iguanas of course, plenty of colorful frogs, green turtles, and 282 bird species. Amazing place! The road to Monteverde was good, no problem to drive (probably they have improved the roads since you went last time?).
Probably, but they are slow to improve the roads down there because they don't want to hike the taxes.

… Bad or sick people commit crimes, not the guns or the knives.
…which are readily available thanks to
a culture and a market which makes them easier to acquire than a drivers license.

Just google ‘do more guns make us safer’. Of course I’m biased towards Harvard, NIH, etc rather than NRA and gun lobby ;-)

Did you take the Jungle Night Tour at Monteverde? That is a scary walk! It is amazing how many creepy things come out at night in the rain forest.

Lol, of course you are. I’m just gonna stick with 40 years of experience, and with some FBI statistics.

When I was staying at Ossa Conservation, we went out on night forays looking for reptiles. Wow!!!
There were Walking Sticks, Tarantula, Bark Scorpions, Hercules Beetles and all sorts of bugs and creepy crawlies and of course Sloths in the canopy. I wouldn't want to get lost in Monteverde at night.

Yes, we went in the forest a couple of times at night to look for frogs. Plenty of other stuff around of course as well.

Bad or sick people commit crimes, not the guns or the knives.
So you have 5 to 10 times more bad or sick people in the US compared to Europe?

And I agree with MiddleRiver: you should read about the subject instead of parroting the NRA.

BTW, the only country where someone tried to kill me was the US and not even with a gun or a knive but with a car and this is not a coincidence.

Certainly an important topic, but definitely OT here!

These pictures are amazing, I've never been to the tropics. The trip to Costa Rica would be worth it just to see that blue hummingbird alone!

I also invited this a bit with my theft story at the end of my binocular report, but of course it would be nicer to keep this on SFL, Costa Rica and birds. So some more of that ;)
