Id heard about the behaviour of protecting territories, but never expected it to be at the level of killing ducklings. I watched the swan try to drown this one, totally unphased by me being feet away. Then tried to get the others.

They even kill their own cygnets when they look like intruding adults (the so called Polish Swans--What is a 'Polish' swan?--that, among other traits, are white when juvenile):
