Admittedly, the cost of alphas has soared over the last few years, and to buy either of these now (in the case of Leica, the HD) would cost around £1,500. However, if you've got the readies and you annualise the cost over 20 years (they'll in all likelihood last a lot longer), it would equate to £1.44 a week.
I don't envisage buying any more binoculars, and these are of such quality that I'll leave them to my children in my will and be happy in the knowledge that they'll be treasured and used.
Are alphas worth it? To me they are.
