...again taken from a distance so apologies for the poor quality. These may be the same bird but equally not. The rufous pattern on the wings in the second pic, and the throat on the first suggest Whitethroat. Correction or confirmation would be appreciated.

I wonder if Spectacled Warbler can safley be excluded? The primary projection seems really short...
Good point. I know from ebird that both species were seen in that area yesterday so definitely feasible. And I agree (working from Collins, not experience) that the primary projections nudge towards Spectacled, so I'm minded to go with that.
 
Found another photo, which I didn't originally post because the head is largely obscured. But this gives a clearer image of the primary projection, I think. Does this help the experts out there decide between Whitethroat and Spectacled Warbler?
