Askam in Furness and N. Lincolnshire England (1 Viewer)

Grateful for help with two birds, taken on opposite sides of the country.
Photo 1. Askam in Furness. Small flock in coastal hills. Wasn't sure if juvenile linnet or twite. Pointers would be appreciated, thanks.

Photo 2. Lowland mixed reed bed and marsh grass on the Humber. Thought female linnet but was on its own around dishevelled reed buntings.

Thanks All

Steve

The Askam birds are Linnets. If taken recently it's too early for Twite flocks in the area.

As far as I can tell the other photo is also a Linnet.

Agree with SD, all Linnets.
Most Twite will have a straw/yellow coloured bill and unstreaked throat, unlike your birds.
The only Twite age/plumage that has a grey bill like your bird would be an adult male in the breeding season (as in the link below). Note that its throat is still unstreaked and the rump is pink-clearly visible even though much of the central part of the rump is cloaked by its wings.
