Here's a picture of a (presumeably) southbound Whimbrel sitting on the helideck yesterday (Åsgard field).

In Norfolk good numbers of 'limosa' Black-tailed Godwits have been turning up recently, but unfortunately none are ringed! These could well be breeders from the continent, as failed British breeders are usually a lot more scruffy at this time of year and these are quite pretty sum plum birds.

Good to see some keen birders off shore. I presume your allowed to have a camera out there? I work at a high security oil facility up here and trying to get a camera on site is hell to say the least (obtaining permits etc), esp when you find a good bird you want to document (RB Shrike in May).

Its a boat I'm on so none of that oil rig security stuff for me....occasional problems when I go ashore with a helicopter but nothing I can't handle.....

Your Lucky before i get a permit and do a Haz id ,toolbox talk etc etc its finished its migration:-O
 
trip down to the coast this morning saw my first bar tailed godwit
of the autumn even though its the middle of summer,an adult in full summer plumage,the first time i have ever seen one in summer plumage,makes a change not to see one either in winter or juvenile plumage and what a cracker it was,pity i only had my bins with me and not my scope.
