Barn Owl in bedroom!! (1 Viewer)

A work colleague from Park Gate, Hampshire (on a modern housing estate) awoke at 0100 this morning to discover a barn owl perched on his bed! It had flown in through the open window and hopped around the room for 10 minutes onto the wardrobe, curtain rail and TV before flying back out. The room was in darkness at the time when he became aware of something flying across his bed! The owl was quite calm and not distressed.

Anyone else heard of this happening?

Can't believe a wild Barnie would do that.......anyone near him keep an owl? Is that an anklet I can see or just a darker leg compared to the foot colouration.....?
Still must've freaked him out a bit!!!

He was a bit stunned to say the least! He doesnt know of anyone locally who keeps one. I've emailed Keith Betton, the Hants recorder, to see if he knows.

There have been a couple of threads on here about (presumed) wild owls in peoples houses, so not unprecedented. But still quite amazing.

No Barn Owls!...but several years ago, I was awoken by a ''kerfuffle'' as a small passerine (probably tit species) had flown through one open window..passed the fixed window pane..then out the next adjoining open window...with a grey blur in ''hot-pursuit''....the grey blur description would never have got passed any committee...but it's on my bedroom list :)
