Dear all,
I attach two shots of different birds taken in different locations and different times. Is it at all possible to identify them ?
Photo 1: taken in Hong-Kong's Mai Po in November
Photo 2: taken in Hokkaido in March
Thank you in advance, ugolino

The birds at Mai Po last winter are generally considered to be serrirostris: thick necks, dark heads and deep bills with obvious 'grin patch'.

I would have said the Hokkaido birds are also serrirostris.

Thank you both, I never thought I would get definite answers, so most grateful for your efforts and tentative ids.
Ugolino
