Bird box help! (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone, last year I was fortunate to have blue tits best in my garden. Granted in a old rotten bird box and not my fancy new greenfeathers one with camera.
So this year took down the old one and replaced it with my new one with camera. My question is, last year my box had something similar to what is pictured minus the perch. Would I be best to leave my bird box hole as it is or add on the selected picture. Thoughts please

Hi there and a warm welcome to you from those of us on staff here at BirdForum (y)
We're glad you found us and please join in wherever you like. ;)

A few years back I had a bird box similar to this and no activity at all. The following breeding season I removed the add on entrance and after a few weeks I started getting activity in it so you might want to try that.

Welcome to Birdforum. I hope you enjoy your visits.

I'd leave the box as it is.

This is predator guard. But the sad thing is bird sometimes don't know how to enter the birdhouse if this predator guard is installed. Here is different predator guards or drill right size entrance hole.
