Bird watching dalyan Turkey (3 Viewers)

Oh - nearly forgot.... Didn't go out hunting for White-throated Kingfisher, but did visit the area to the W of Koycegiz and also the bridge over the Namnam when passing, and didn't see or hear anything this time.... first time I've failed to see this species.

Is picture 3 in your last post a photoshop job then?

No. The ones that I have added so far have been from Spring 2008 (when I DID see W-t Kingfisher).....

I haven't got round to sorting out my 2010 pics yet (when I didn't!)

Here's a couple from this year.....

Brendan
ps anyone else willing to share their bird photos from the Dalyan area?

sightings update blog

We have updated the site. The main new addition is the ‘your shout ‘page which can be found in the drop down menu on the contact tab. The page contains a link to our blog page were John Codling will report his sightings during the winter months in Dalyan. The ‘shout box’ on the same page offers people the opportunity to report their bird sightings around Dalyan, be they current or retrospective. We do hope people who have visited Dalyan in the past can post their sightings.
Improved directions to Hamit Koy have been included.

We have up dated the site see Dalaman Reed Beds; we have also put ‘a week’s birding in April’ on the blog with photos of Ortalan Bunting, Wheatear and Red Rumped Swallow. The blog can be found by going on the ‘contact’ tab, and clicking on the drop down menu for ‘ your shout’

There are a few changes to the website www.dalyanbirding.com , recent sightings has been updated with a blog from August and September 2011. I have added a new bird page for Rüppells Warbler to help people locate this bird in the area. If you have visited the site before you will need to refresh the page to see the changes. Anyone willing to give a positive id on the godwit?

Hi,

it depends what you mean by private boat hire, for instance you can book a corporation boat just for yourself or family, as you may know it is the price of the boat and not the number of people you are paying for, so divide the price by the number travelling for a per person price. last year we got a trip up the lake, right side of lake first, cross the lake to the left side for a swim stop and more birding ,to the hot springs and back to Dalyan (10am to 5pm) for 120 lira, though it can be pot luck on which boat man you get, some are happy to do such a trip, others are grumpy after three hours and only want to go to the hot springs, just make sure you tell who you are paying at the kiosk what you want within your price and get them to confirm that with the captain before you set, usually not a problem though. if you go pirate ie not the coloration you can get some very silly prices.

Hi - that's about what I thought - its been a few years since we have been.

We have had some really good trips - and some not so good where the captain has needed too much persuasion that we are not interested in the hot springs - rather we are looking for "kush" (?).

We used to know one boatman who knew the birds inside out and photographed them, he was excellent, but I think he moved away from Dalyan.

Thanks for the info.

Just a quick update. We have made some minor changes to the website.

We have added ‘Recent Sightings’ to the top navigation bar and from the 12.6.2013 will ‘tweet’ some updates, although you can see ‘reports’ on the blog link on the same page. The blog link is also available on the ‘about page’

Latest blog with new photos of Roller, Black headed Bunting, Fan tailed warbler, Rufus Bush Chat, Peregrine falcon, Gold Finch, Masked Shrike, White Stork and Little Owl was updated in May 13.

Regarding ‘tweets’ (how appropriate!) hopefully others who have an update will join in.. here’s hoping.

We are hoping to put together more sites to visit for Girdev Gol and Çövenli Yaylasi in the mountains above Beyobasi so people can travel independently.

Anyone got any other suggestions for the site (clean please) and we have at look at what we can do.

Brendan

Another quick update I forgot to say you will have to refresh the website pages once on them to see the changes

Good to hear about Çovenli Yaylasi in particular Brendan.

A hidden gem.

I thought I'd discovered heaven when I came across it in May. Three species of shrike, four species of bunting, wheatears, Bonelli's warbler, sombre tit, Syrian woodpecker, redstart, serin, etc, etc, etc.

Picture below.

Website now updated following 'Twitter' withdrawing some capabilities form web programme. Basically 'Tweets from Dalyan' should up date what people are seeing out and about and the 'trip reports' tab are blogs of days out. Hope people find it useful and contribute if willing.
cheers

An excellent new trip report from May 2013 has been posted by Alan Gilbertson.
