Birds making noise at night (1 Viewer)

In the past few weeks I've heard birds flying around and making noise (just normal behaviour really).

But strangely, it is happening at night (around midnight and later).

What could be the cause of this?

In the southern hemisphere, I'm afraid I wouldn't have a clue. But I can empathise as I have a Tawny Owl roost only 15 yards outside my bedroom window and he's currently screeching most mornings at 04:45.
But I can think of a whole host of worse thing to be woken by!

No idea on why.

But a few years ago there was an Eagle Owl that had escaped from its owner and it became quite a ceebrity in Middlesbrough [Known locally as the Boro Owl] and even had its own fan club.

At that time the office I worked in finished at midnight and we were just on the edge of the town centre and many nights as we came out we could hear its hooting whilst it was sat in the derelict houses nearby.
