Black-faced goose (1 Viewer)

Hi

I recently saw this bird whilst out walking and wondered what it was. It had a jet black face which was the bit I found striking. No doubt it is something very common, but being new to this and not being able to find anything in my book, I wondered if you could shed some light on it. Apologies for the quality of the photo but I didn't have much time.

Thanks

He must have been out for a walk also as he was well away from any farms/houses/other dwellings etc.

Anyway, thanks for your replies.

I don’t know about the UK, but in the States feral Chinese geese are common at duck ponds in public parks & similar places. Was there a pond in the vicinity of where you encountered your bird?
