Black Kite ,Northern Greece (1 Viewer)

When was the photo taken Ody?
is that from today, odysseas? i agree on black kite though.
As there are no leaves on the tree, I assumed fairly recently.

This may be of interest - there are regular winter roosts now in Greece with increasing numbers of Black Kite wintering in the Mediterranean area:

No great surprise - combination of global warming and easy access to human food waste. Why bother with a hazardous crossing of the Med, or run the gunfire gauntlet in the Middle East, when there's a tip down the road?

No great surprise -

Maybe not given what we all know about Climate Change but I think it’s pertinent to this thread if this is a December sighting of BK in Greece (which is why I posted it).

The paper is also well researched so I am sure it will be of interest to birders in Greece, if not to a wider audience. On a general note, keeping abreast of changes in migratory patterns and ranges can be helpful as probability can inform the identification process of certain species.
