Hello all! I recently discovered a dead blue bird in my backyard. But it’s almost teal it’s soo dark blue? I like in a rural area and have never seen a blue bird here before?! Wondering if they turn darker blue once deceased? I’m sad I finally found one on my property, dead 🥲

Hi Tbirdie and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators. I can't really help you very much, but wonder if you've had some very strong winds lately? It's migration time just now and it could have been blown off course and been struggling to find a food supply. It is very sad.

Hopefully someone from your side of the Atlantic will be along soon with some more ideas for you.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.

It may have been an Indigo Bunting, which is all blue but darker. The blue birds don't change color on death afaik.
The Eastern Blue Bird has a blue back, but a red breast and a white underbelly.

Thank you for warm welcome! It logs it’s a Mexican Jay! I researched I live in Clinton/ Warren country Ohio?!!! Southwest Ohio
