Bonelli's eagle? El Hondo Nature Reserve, Eastern Spain (1 Viewer)

I can see the one with the red/brown sky as a large owl, or maybe even a night heron (could that stiff "tail" be foreshortened legs?), but I certainly can't see it as a kite of any kind. Look at the bulk of the body relative to the wings. I don't think anything within Accipitridae can look like that tbh.

Apologies for hijacking the thread but viewers of it might be able to help me; where would be the most reliable spot to try and see Bonellis Eagle in Europe?

I tend to agree, the raptor on post #8 flying at dusk does look like Black-winged Kite, a good shout imo. This is a species I see particularly frequently, as they nest on my patch, and I see them flying over my house almost daily; same with Eagle Owl, a species I see with relative frequency, also with an easily observable breeding/territorial pair. Despite this, I'd not consider this bird identifiable from this photo alone, as reasonable doubt remains, but would rule out Eagle Owl entirely, based on proportions and belly shape (it would be a rather thin and sleek Eagle Owl!). Also clearly not a Heron, as suggested... Interestingly, I find it rather hard to assess which direction the bird is flying: from left to right or away from the observer, but in the end this is not relevant to recognize the shape.

Some photos of Black-winged Kite where the characteristic structure is visible (including the proportionately large head)
With some patience and time I'm sure an almost identical shape to the OP photo can be found.

Eagle Owl: ML618082060 - Eurasian Eagle-Owl - Macaulay Library

Incidentally, I found the OP photo of post #8 already included in Macaulay library, determined as Eagle Owl: ML627802820 - Eurasian Eagle-Owl - Macaulay Library, and described in the relevant ebird checklist as "Colossal, very short-tailed bird with a massive head and vaguely owl-like appearance. Another possibility is greater spotted eagle."
With all due respect, I find this poor practice, and some may call it stringing. But then, some of you will recognize and recall the name of the observer as an old acquaintance of the Forum...

Cheers

Am I right? This Gleb Berloff is using the photo of Dr. Boletus, gives the camera settings suggesting that he took the picture and puts it in his own list at Macaulay Library with his copyright?
Err... no, they're the same person. But I think that's somewhat lateral to the discussion here.
