Busted Wing BlueJay help (1 Viewer)

TLDR~I need a rehab place in my area to set his wing. Hartford,CT

The adult BlueJay wing is stuck in a funny position and he hops away to the Giant bushes in my backyard.
~i spent the last hour trying to find plces in my area to set his wing or care for him & everything is either outdated
or not interested. Last place even called The Blue Jay a bird of prey and they dont help BOPs..
I didn't know BlueJays where Birds of Prey. considering a Bird of prey most likely did this to him.
~I dunno how he survives with my two Ninja Cats milling about..
Esp the one cat who actively hunts everything it can.. So i hung Suet & bird seed in his bush
as he watched me curious.. He knows im not a threat but im still scary for sure.....

These BlueJays are our favs because they seem to interact with us.
Not on a Raven/Crow level but enough that i feel invested...
Im near Hartford,CT if anyone knows a more recent database.
I don't have a pic yet but will try..
I also put water out..
All my Suets & feeders are in the trees and my daughters old treehouse.
i figure he has 1 month left in the wild until it gets cold.

Hi Seabass and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators. Your local vet may well know of a good wildlife rehabber; in addition most vets will provide emergency first aid to wildlife and would likely know if the wing is salvageable. If it isn't, the kindest thing would be to put it to sleep I'm afraid, as he will not cope in the wild. To give it a chance, if there is a fracture, it would need to be treated within 48 hours, I think.

We have some general guidelines here for the care of injured and baby birds, which I hope you will find helpful. Please let us know how you get on.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.

Update~Found "Wildlife in Crisis" about an hour away. The girl who called was awesome.
They are gonna take an xray and rehab there...So good news...
I'll update throughout since it could help someone in similar situation in future..

Thanks Delia

Encouraging news indeed SB. Thanks for letting us know.

Hope he makes it.
