A squirrel shot at ISO 6400 and cleaned up a bit. Not great but no bad either, what do you think?

I think its fine. I'm not one who looks for noise if I like the image BTH. Sometimes it can enhance the background to me and a strong subject interns of colour takes it well I think. Nice one. I took a blackbird at 4000 the other day (auto iso) and the result was very good. I personally ma very impressed with the ISO performance.

I want to apologise to all those photographers in the West Midlands for the weather going down the pan from early next week onwards.Why ? Because that's when my newly ordered 7D ii should arrive and as we all know that when you buy a new camera or lens the weather goes downhill.

I am very apprehensive that I might get a faulty one so if anyone could give me advice how to check the AF problem I would be obliged.I presume that I've got to set up a target and use a tripod to rattle off some shots but what settings should I use.My lens is a 400 f5.6.

With an outlay of £3000-3500 surely there must be better examples which aren't in the 'record-shot' category.
Maybe I'm just too picky but a sharp, well composed, well exposed quality image must be possible. Never sure what the point of using extreme range, poor light, difficult conditions etc just to prove that expensive optics will get that poor record shot. Honestly, not looking for a spat just some quality images - I'm desperate to upgrade lens and/or body just not seeing anything to justify the outlay yet.

My wife is going to regret my signing up for this forum. I don't think she quite grasped the $$$ involved in the words Canon DSLR & Lens when I mentioned getting a better rig and she said OK!

I have realized I need (OK, really want) to upgrade from my old Rebel XT and 55-250 zoom, which was in itself an upgrade from a cheap but decent Sanyo point and shoot. The problem with is that I had decided to wait for the new Canon T6s when they come out next month. Seeing your results with the 7d Mark II now has me yearning to spend that extra money!

Believe me you will know if you have a Lemon as almost every shot will be unusable.
I am still going through the hassle of trying to sort mine out.

Awesome photographs being posted. Have been concerned with focusing issue being discussed on this forum and canon forum. Am going to give the 7dmkii a try. Rented one for two weeks. What the heck got 2 weeks for price of one. Will have to use over my spring break. Won't be grading papers that's for sure. Will be putting camera through paces

My 7Dii has arrived.Only ordered it on Wednesday afternoon and it came all the way from Hong Kong yesterday afternoon.

Only had time to check out the AF very quickly.I rattled off 30 shots in the back garden and all shots seemed sharp.Fingers crossed it's OK but will check it out more thoroughly today if the new camera gloom brightens up.

I do have one question:-

I loved the Quick Control button on the mark1 but the one on the mark2 does not seem to allow me to change the AF area selection.The mark1 did.Have I set the camera up incorrectly ?
