Chara Pinta (Tufted Jay) Reserve (1 Viewer)

For a planned trip in January I have been trying to make a reservation for a cabaña at the Chara Pinta Reserve on the old Mazatlan-Durango road. I was told that they didn't rent out cabins at the moment because of a "situation" in the village El Palmito. If anyone has information about the caracter of that situation I would like to know. Is the area in general safe to visit? If we can't stay at the reserve, where is the best alternative? I have been dreaming about seeing Tufted Jay for many years, so I really had hoped to spend some days in the area of that species' distribution on this trip.
Thanks in advance for any helpful answer!

Hi! I have a friend who's a guide in Sinaloa and, the "situation" refers to n4rc0 violence, she says it's not the best time to go over there, Don Santos, who's a local guide for the Chara Pinta had to move out of this town because of that :( it's been a few months since all of that started. I believe birding and activities in general have been paused for safety.
