Coney Meadow and Adjoining Areas (14 Viewers)

A Hobby circling overhead among hirundines between Salwarpe and Ladywood this morning.
A female type Yellow Wagtail feeding with Pieds around the feet of the cows near the green barn
2 female type Redstarts between Ladywood and New Mill.
4 Willow Warblers in various areas near Salwarpe
12 Mistle Thrushes near High Park
Cetti's Warbler
Raven
Common Whitethroat
Sparrowhawk

2 Hares near Mayhouse Cottages
 
3 Redstarts this morning - 1 between Ladywood and New Mill, 1 along the towpath between Salwarpe and Ladywood and another along the bridleway between Salwarpe and Hiģh Park.
3+ Ravens
Kestrel
Common Whitethroats, Reed Warblers, Blackcaps and Chiffchaffs

2 Hares near Salwarpe village
 
A much later walk this morning (didn't set out till 11) but still good so far:

4 Whichats along the fence-line between Salwarpe and Ladywood - probably an individual record count for the patch. Mainly seen near the Thistle patch but can go missing for periods
1 Wheatear still near the Green Barn
Washed out male Redstart just down the slope from there along the hedgerow
1 Spotted Flycatcher Coney Meadow
Kingfisher along the river at Salwarpe
Cetti's Warbler
Kestrel
 
At least 3 Whinchats still present - initially along the fence line then moved into the centre of the sheep field, perching on docks and much harder to pick up.
Good numbers of Warblers around in various places, including Willow Warbler and lots of Common Whitethroats.
Swallows and House Martins feeding low down in the drizzle.
 
2 Yellow Wagtails amongst cattle near the green barn near Ladywood.
Whinchat perched in bushes along the canal eating Elderberries and even pecking at apples - never seen that before! Another Whinchat perched among the thistles. On my return, 2 were perched on the fence-line.

Rain stopped play at the moment - currently sheltering under a hawthorn.

This was calmly sunning itself on a log in the canal just west of Salwarpe. Any ideas of the species and have they been seen here before. I assume it's not particularly good news! Photo taken on phone at max zoom so not the best...

The Yellow-bellied Terrapin (Slider) has been present for several years and photos of it have featured on this thread a few times. Last time I saw it was a few days ago, just west of Salwarpe on its favourite stump👍

A Common Snipe just flew from Coney reedbed - my first of the autumn.

2 or 3 Little Egrets seen today - 1 near Coney Meadow, 1 over New Mill and, possibly the same between Salwarpe and Ladywood.
