Peewit

Once a bird lover ... always a bird lover
Hi there

I watched the backend of Countryfile last night, and enjoyed the short, but still a short but sweet interesting article about the eating habits of the 'Twite'

The 'Twite' article is into 25.12mins to 28.16mins part of the programme

I never knew that Dandelions where so much part of a 'Twites' diet amongst other specialised seeds - so it is an eye opener to me

The Twite is known as the Pennine Finch as a localised name for interest in the Pennines

The programme also has articles about Honey Bees, Wind Turbines and their effects on our countryside.

I was mixing the sound for this TV programme last week, but until then was unaware that Twite were only breeding in the Pennines. It probably explains why I haven't seen one for many years, as I live in the midlands.

Hi Sounds-a tweet

Interesting to hear that you are part of the 'Countryfile' background music. :t:

Yes, even the little areas of Countryfile are a 'gem' to us bird lovers...in relation to certain rarer species of bird.

I have to fess up that I have seen Twites ( a small group) at Snettisham a while ago close to Norfolk Coast line - but breeding birds - that is something I have to find out along the way.

Kathy
