Early efforts with a 400d (1 Viewer)

I recently bought a 400d as a back-up body, having had a close shave with my 1DsII, a rock and a deep puddle. I have spent the last few days getting used to it - a very similar layout to my old Eos 300 35mm slr, so the controls were easy enough, but isnt it a small body! The ergonomics took a while to get used to, especially with a big lens, but the image quality is very pleasing. Here are some early efforts.

I was particularly pleased with the dunnock's lighting, and the coot - a bird I have struggled to get a decent image of for a long time.

Here's a couple more from my early trials with the 400D, and one (the goldfinch) with the 1DsII for comparison - taken with sigma 500 and kenko1.4TC, tripod mounted and cropped in to equal the field of view from the 400D on the same lens set-up. It was much easier getting the image with the more sophisticated body, focus was quicker and more accurate, metering with the spot meter improved exposure, but I dont think the 400D lags behind that much in IQ, comparing the dunnock shot from post1 of this thread (same lens set-up, but different lighting). http://www.birdforum.net/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/180278/limit/recent
