It was Burnham Overy, the Sea wall. They had 6 petals though? and I'm pretty sure grass like leaves

OK, maybe not then, difficult to count tepal in photo, or see leaves. No monocot comes immediately to mind.

Ipheion or somewhere close but never seen it with such reflexed tepals, what size across flower? Only one species naturalised in UK - Ipheion [Tristagma] uniflorum

3-4cm diameter. I think you are closest with that. Looking at a quick search on the internet.

Must be it, I assumed it was smaller than that. Around here it is close to white and very star like. Possibly a garden variety like Wisley Blue?

Agree it's this, though Tristagma is the currently accepted genus.

Well, Stace 2019 uses Tristagma but Wiki uses Ipheion, and this is also the combination used by Kew - Plants of the World online?

The Dutch name for this plant is "Old little ladies" because its bulbs smell of urine. Mean but funny...

I think the Kew Plants of the World is not as up to date as it should be, but we know they are synoyms.
