Great tit's nesting (1 Viewer)

I have a pair of great tit's (I believe) frantically feeding chicks in my bird box. Can anyone tell me, I'm assuming they lay 8-10 eggs if they all hatched what is the average rate of survival to fledge with them having good food source available etc? Thanks.
I've posted the best picture I was able to get at the mo as they're so quick but will work on better ones.

Hi Anya and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators. Yes, that is a Great Tit, looks like a male to me, they have a much broader black central stripe down the belly. You can read more about them in our Opus article: Great Tit - BirdForum Opus

Here is a page from the British Trust for Ornithology website, which should cover your specific question: Great Tit

Please don't be afraid to ask if you have any more questions.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.

Hi thx for your reply and ' looked on the sites you highlighted but it didn't say what the average fledging amount maybe from a norm brood of theirs. I've just popped near the box and can defo hear chicks chipping but haven't put in a camera...will rectify that for nxt yr.

Hi again Anya

I'm sorry that the BTO website didn't have those figures - I've a feeling if they haven't got a record for it, then no-one has. However, it wouldn't hurt to drop them an email and ask if there are such records available, you never know. I'd be grateful if you could let us know if you get and stats for it, we could then include that in our Opus article.

Welcome to Birdforum. I hope you enjoy your visits.

If you google great tit fledgling survival rate there’s a bit of information. I think the highest mortality rate is within the first week of fledging.

There is also information on the % who make it fledging.
