I originally hail from Sydney but have resided in sunny Brisbane since 2008.

I started birding photography around 3 years ago after finding Duade Paton's superb YouTube channel. I'm still not getting the best images, but slowly improving. I've found that spending more time in the field has helped my birding, and my photography, improve.

I have been a Canon user since 1989 and currently use a R3 and EF 500f4 IS L USM mark 1 prime (with a 1.4x III TC). I am currently saving the pennies for a EF 600f4 II, hopefully to purchase in 3-4 years.

I do have a website (sorry mods if this isn't allowed) - www.davepastern.com. Feel free to check it out.

Cheers,

Dave

Hi Dave and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators. I had a wonderful time in Brisbane just before Covid so I hope to be able to see some of your pictures in the Gallery before too long.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing about the birds you see around you.

many thanks Delia. Australia has some of the most amazing parrots in the world (being new to birding and birding photography, my life list is still not too good, and there are a LOT of birds that I want to see/photograph in the future). I have already posted an image in the gallery!

Welcome to Birdforum. I hope you enjoy your visits.

Many years ago, my sisters went to boarding school in Brisbane.
