Tuesday evening light appalling, I'd nipped down to CLP to see if a Black Tern reported earlier in the day was still hanging about . It was , flying roughly over the old fence line half way down the main pit. This continued for 10 minutes until 2 paddle boarders decided to use the same area and that was that .
6 Snipe seen flying off as well as 63 cormorant and 50+ lapwing .
The Egret in the picture sometimes brings its wings forward when fishing .

Paddle-boarders!? Is Grimley open to such things?

It looks like it is now--- not the first time and probably why it has become dead over the last 3 months. When i first started going there 10 years ago 65 to 70 species was a normal day if you birded the whole area , now its an achievement to get to 50 but thats the same everywhere--- my gripe for the day.

Thursday evening , 2 Cormorants and very little of anything on the main pit. An adult Mute Swan dead by the side of North causeway was fresh, and although they may not be connected there has been an algae bloom for the past 3 weeks. I have noticed in previous years dead Swans through this period {4 last year} , when a bloom was present .
On a happier note a Great White Egret was feeding along the East shore from 6:30 pm----> with the occasional quarrel with the resident Grey Herons.
Sparrowhawk and Kingfisher South end, and Barn Owl up the river. 35 species.

Sunday morning,Great White Egret was showing well, 2 Birds had been in the the previous days, so as the original bird keeps to the South end the bird in the photo must be the newcomer. Water Rail heard. Kingfisher was seen CLP and Church Farm, but resisted posing for a picture. A group of 5 Stonechats were moving around Church Farm.

4 Stonechats were on the North causeway as was a Cettis Warbler which was calling repeatedly from cover. Kingfisher and 2 L.Egrets, no Hurrindines seen .

Thursday morning Bittern seen by Martin F. , gutted i could not get on to it quick enough, spooked by cows West shore flew to East shore. Nice its still around having been seen the week before . Second winter Great Black-Backed Gull flew through S--->N.

From Sunday CLP at mid-day an Otter was seen up on the bank by the rabbit warren [left of the main North gate entrance] , and ran down the bank and into the pool below before disappearing from view. Carl may have a picture at @Carljones57.
Kingfisher Stonechats and 9 Wigeon also present.
Of note a Bittern had been seen in the morning at Upton Warren , hopefully not the one from Grimley.

Monday evening ,i stayed till just after 6:30 no luck seeing the Bittern but a Great White Egret did arrive 5:10 and landed on the East shore out of sight in Ruscus and it stayed that way until it left, Northward at 6:23 pm. Starlings kept me occupied with a flock murmurating towards the South end coming to roost in the margins at 6:00.
Going up the road from the North gate there were at least 6 smallish bats feeding overhead.

Monday Morning CLP, Approx 8 Stonechats maybe more around the area Cettis ,Water Rail calling and yet again I have missed the Bittern seen by Martin F. [fly across] towards the South end . At least it is still there .
