its good to be back
Ukraine
taken this morning 28/11/2021 at redcar tarn west yorkshire, the tarn was nearly frozen over so not many large gulls about and -6

im thinking yellow legged gull but will be wrong

white head and rounded
black eye
has a gentle look almost common gull like
mantle is darker than the herring gull behind

female type 2cy Caspian Gull. note small mirror to p10. some argentatus can also show a small mirror in 2nd gen primaries but they would have a streaked head, a stronger, higher bill and not as contrasting tertial pattern.

any good links for gulls im getting a bit bewildered with them all
 
Again, another individual I have seen and discussed. Bill shape, pale eye in 2nd cycle and coarsely marked coverts do not suggest a pure Caspian Gull. Perhaps Herring x Caspian? Another tough one, which one or two others thought may be a YlG with a P10 mirror, which whilst uncommon, is not unknown.
