Nice report. I feel for you with all the frustrations.
And with all the introductions what an eclectic trip list!

If I were to do my itinerary over again, I would have skipped Kauai entirely, saving it for another time, and just spent more time on Hawaii - there was so much more snorkeling I wanted to do, and another day would also have allowed me to explore Volcanoes National Park, which was simply amazing.

Good advice for planning my own trip, especially the part about avoiding the rainy season! Thanks for posting.

Yeah, this trip report did solidify my idea about doing Hawaii as two separate trips, with the first focusing on Oahu and Hawaii, and a summer trip at some point to Kauai and Maui.
