Hawaii Birding in November (1 Viewer)

Hi together,

how is birding Hawaii in November.
Which islands are the best for birding.
Main interest is bird life, but also wild flowers like orchids and ferns.
I have only 3 weeks.
How is about camping, is booking in advance needed or easy to find place in this time ?

Hawaii in November will have the migratory shore birds plus the local residents.

Note that Hawaii is an extinction hot spot, it is all imports at the lower levels, the native birds are gone below 3000 feet elevation. To see any of the surviving endemics, you have to get to higher elevations.
The ABA sponsored a trip to Hawaii earlier this year hitting high points on the big island, Kauai and Oahu. The local arrangements, including access to restricted forest sites, were very well handled by Hawaii Forest and Trail, at hawaii-forest.com, phone +1 808 331 8505.
I do not know whether camping is a practical option, the landscape is volcanic, hence very rugged and the leeward side of the islands are very dry, so hiking becomes challenging. Also the islands are still pretty undeveloped, even Oahu has lots of rural open spaces once out of Honolulu, so support is thin on the ground.
