My husband and I live in southern New Zealand, though we originated from the UK back in the middle of the last century…. We have birdied in the UK and have been lucky to have a few birding holidays over the years, especially enjoying Lesvos during migration.

We are planning a short trip (10 day) to Costa Rica as part of a bigger (non-birding) trip and will be keeping costs down by driving ourselves. Although I know it’s not ideal weather the timing means we would be there in early Septembe.

We’d love to read any trip reports anyone would be happy to share with us. Our very rough outline plan is to stick to three locations: maybe Rancho Naturalista, Arenal NP and La Selva. Does this sound OK In terms of not too much specials duplication and driving?

is there anywhere else people would recommend as well as, or instead of, the above?

Thanks for any advice, hints and tips,

best wishes for great birding in 2024!

Hi CharlieOscar and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators. Here's a link to some of the Costa Rica threads which mention November. Not all will be applicable, but it might save you some time and might be of assistance while waiting for replies if you do post in that forum.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.
