Would anyone have any advise please. I have a black birds nest in the garden this is the second young this year we have watched from a far and the parents were fabulous at raising their first set of young even the one who was slow to leave the nest that was last month. This month they have started again looks like two maybe 3 eggs ( from a distance) however a magpie came and the mum chased it off they got into a scuffle and the mum was killed on saturday! the dad has been back to the nest on saturday and he has been feeding not seen him since Eggs are still is there anything I can do or anyone I can call to help these unhatched eggs if the dad has left I know it says to wait two weeks as the parents may return I'm just wondering . Our first chicks all hatched and the parents took care of them and knew what to do so well I feel a bit useless now.

Hi Misty Knight and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators.

As hard as it is for us to observe, these are quite natural happenings. It is extremely difficult to raise birds from eggs, and needs experts to do so. You could try phoning a local wildlife rescue centre. All will depend on how long it's been since the eggs were last brooded.

If it's been too long, leave the eggs there, as they will provide nourishment for other species. Nothing goes to waste in nature.

Thank you for the advise, I called the sanctuary near to where I live and they advised let nature take it care of it and to leave alone. I know its hard but I will listen to people that know best even though it breaks my heart!
