Hello,
I'm looking for identification books on Vietnam and Borneo birds.
Do I have to find one on each country or is there one covering both (south-east Asia ?).
And which ones do you recommend ?
I have spotted 2 Field Guide to the Birds of South-East Asia.
One of 2014 by Craig Robson
One of 1975 (!) by Ben F. King et Edward C. Dickinson
Will the Craig Robson be OK ?
Thank you

Robson will be best for Vietnam. For Borneo the recent Lynx guide to Indonesia (Eaton et al.) is very good, though there are also some specific guides for Borneo. I'm not sure any field guides cover both countries.

I think that the Eaton guide will carry far too many non relevant species and if you go to Sabah as most do, that's Malaysia not Indonesia though it's merely a political distinction.

Better with a book that deals just with Borneo IMHO.

IIRC James Eaton's new guide covers all of the Greater Sundas, including Malaysian Borneo. However, I agree the Meyers guide is fine and more specific (cheaper too....)

Cheers,
