Marsh Warbler

Hi all,

one of my friend visited Namibia in August 2007 and shoted these birds. Can you tell me scientific names of this species?

Thank You! ;)

1 - Karoo Chat?

2 - Not sure. Possible Female masked weaver? :-C

3 - Red eyed bulbul

I'm sure one of our south african members will have a much better idea.

No.1 looks very pale brown on head and shoulders - perhaps Tractrac chat? Unfortunately, when dealing with chats, rump and tail are key features, and these cannot be seen.

No.2 - tricky - looks like a female something...could well be a weaver

No. 3- Absolute certainty - African Red-eyed Bulbul

Best wishes,
Dave Kennedy

Sorry! You asked for scientific names........

No. 1 - perhaps Cercomela tractrac

No. 2 - ? maybe female Ploceus sp.

No. 3 - Pycnonotus nigricans
