Is this a Fieldscope II or III in the photo?? (1 Viewer)

I've just aquired a second hand Fieldscope which I've been after for a while now and I was informed by the retailer that it was a Fieldscope II.

However, on checking through a couple of old threads here on the differences between the two, I'm not sure if this is in fact a Fieldscope III?

Would anyone be able to confirm this for me from the attached photos?? The attached eyepiece is 20x.....

Many thanks....

This is a III. Cannot read the logo, but the red band around the hood means ED. So, ED III A.

Version II did not have an extendable sunshade and the prism housing looked different. The little Kingfisher logo also appeared with the mk III.

Just a note to say congrats--the III, which you have, has the advantages of better multicoating, waterproofing, and the extendable hood as compared to the II.

Given that traditional fieldscope eyepieces are rapidly disappearing (and there are some good deals to be had), you might consider getting one or two others. The 20x you have is nice and functional, but you might consider the 24x DS or MC (same true FOV as the 20x but with more mag, better field flatness, better fit for digiscoping), or the 30x MC, plus the 20-60x zoom.

Many thanks for confirming that for me.....

Yep, chuffed with my new purchase, wanted something a little more portable to take out on walks and I think this will do the job well!

Have read many positive comments about the 30x eyepiece which I will be looking for. With regards to the 24x eyepiece, which is the better version for digiscoping, the DC or MC type??

Thanks again

It all depends on what type of bracket you use. The DS eyepieces are made for Nikons range of brackets and cameras, if handholding or using second party brackets the MC will probably be fine just needs a bit of research.
