Mar 26 Post proposed split of Short-tailed Drongo from Balicassiao.
"We believe a more thorough analysis of taxonomic history, plumage variation and genetic variation, the latter with denser geographic screening, is required to make adequate taxonomic suggestions:" see here.Mar 25 Post newly described Buccanodon dowsetti tentatively as a subspecies of Yellow-spotted Barbet B. duchaillui.
Should be split from hottentotus not belicassius instead, no ?Mar 26 Post proposed split of Short-tailed Drongo from Balicassiao.
Not from the perspective of the IOC WBL. We had already moved striatus (and samarensis) from D. hottentotus to D. balicassius (See Subspecies Updates 10.2):Should be split from hottentotus not belicassius instead, no ?

So, for the most recent versions of the IOC WBL the split of Short-tailed Drongo is from Balicassiao not Hair-crested Drongo.
With Hypsipetes platenae appearing twice.
Mar 27 Post proposal to split Northern Golden Bulbul into six monotypic species.
Given the divergence time, it is best to recognize two genera: Rhopospina and Corydospiza (because Corydospiza has priority over Porphyrospiza)Mar 28 Merge Porphyrospiza with a more expansive Rhopospina.
and Halmahera Golden Bulbul appearing twice with two different scientific namesWith Hypsipetes platenae appearing twice
Mar 28 Post proposal to re-lump Tres Marias Amazon with Yellow-headed Amazon.
The paraphyly shown in the mtDNA study of Eberhard & Bermingham (2004) is not reproduced in Smith et al. (2020) which show oratrix and tresmariae to be sister taxa.
Yes, this is the only work I foundI wonder if it's a typo. The only "Smith et al 2020" on the IOC website is about Lorikeets.
Whoops. Thanks. Typo.Yes, this is the only work I found
I will keep tresmariae as a species, although sister taxa of oratrix, the branches are still quite large compared to close speciesWhoops. Thanks. Typo.

Down though right now, but I guess it's temporary. If anyone have overlooked this: there is a discussion of the Tresmarias Parrot split or not in the first of the NACC proposals, see first post in this thread:
