Learning To Ring (1 Viewer)

I would really like to start ringing , but I have few questions about it first ~

1) How much bird knowledge do I need? (I can identify most British birds but do I need to be able to identify common vagrants aswell? Do I need to be able to identify the gender of most British birds when it is less obvious , or will I learn that when ringing? I can identify the gender of some harder ones , like Blue Tit , Great Tit , The Woodpeckers , Goldrest & Firecrest , The Wagtails and a few more , but what about Wrens, Coal Tits and other small birds , because I have no idea how to sex them!

2)How many times do I have to do it a month?

3)What times in the day does ringing take place ( mainly morning , i'm guessing)

I have already found a ringing site and they have offered to let me see what they do and help me learn if i'm interested.
Hope you can help! |=)|
