Trying to decide which Scaup I have or maybe one of each. Both seem to have greenish sheen head. One appears to have slightly peaked head and one seems smooth to me. What do you think? Thanks.
Pic 1 central bird is pretty clearly lesser scaup - the others may be - I don't see one that's clearly greater scaup.
Fellow-connoisseurs of what nonsense size-comparisons can be will be amused by the green-winged teal being the 'wrong' size.
Another try for a Greater scaup. Female scaup and same female mixed in with lesser scaup in 2nd picture. Smooth head shape with no peak and bill appears broader and thicker.
