Spring migration has brought reports of the return of house martins, the first returning hoopoe and a passage of hundreds of Yelkouan Shearwaters (Puffinus yelkouan).

Local ringer and environmentalist , Stylianos Zannetos discovered the National rarity of a Richard's Pipit at Kalloni Salt Pans
and a Pigmy Cormorant at Metochi Lake.
06-03-24
The first spur winged plover of the season was seen at Kalloni Salt Pans

Local ex pat wildlife enthusiast, Steve Bird reports the first Little Crake at Vergias River.
Several winter visiting black redstarts still present.

Thanks for this. Looking at Lesvos bird news for previous years, there seemed to be links to the best site location on Lesbos. Unfortunately many of these links seem to be inactive and searching the web doesn't seem to give any maps on best places to visit. Also both well known Lesbos books are impossible to find. Do you have a working web-link that could show me how to access the various sites across the island? Visiting in Mid-May.

Unfortunately the Lesvos Birders web site has unfortunately been discontinued due to lack of hits.
As Andrew says , Birdingplaces is a good site to visit.
