Hi, I will spend a few days in Marrakech, Morocco, sightseeing and, hopefully, birding. If anyone is planning to be around, you can contact me. Please do so as well if you have any useful tips.

Get up to Oukaimeden, fantastic place, easy Crimson-winged Finch and a chance of Levaillant's Woodpecker on the way up, we got it. The view over Marrakech is lovely and Marrakech itself is a cultural highlight of my life, an incredible place.

Thanks, Andy!
And how to get to Oukemeidon? Is renting a car there very adventurous? I usually do it in my travels, but in Morocco???

We were in a hire car which we collected at the airport in Cassablanca, pretty easy once out of any big Cities but we did it pre satnav so it can't have been that bad!

I agree with Andy about Oukemeidon. I got lost in Marrakech and that wasn't fun, but to put it in perspective, it wasn't any worse than driving in Paris. Outside that driving in Morocco is fine. There are lots of speed traps, or were when I was there. If someone flashes you it could be to warn you of one many miles up the road.

Morocco is one of the spots I am looking at to combine a trip trekking in the high atlas with birding, would love to hear about your experience and recommendations on the birding side.
