Could it be a Merlin?

I see a small, broad based-pointy-winged, slightly dumpy falcon with a comparatively shorter tail than Kestrel. so I would say yes, it looks good for Merlin, no doubt someone will disagree!

I see exactly the same Deb, Merlin for me too.

Looks good to me too. When I lived on Anglesey a Merlin arriving meant the weather was usually freezing cold and miserable. Ditto Hen Harrier.
