That's a great combo, and one I use most of the time. If you're interested, a PhoneSkope digiscoping adapter fits really well on that eyepiece. Here's what that look like. Thanks everyone.
I've decided to go with the 30-60W eyepiece and ordered a Monarch 82ED-A.
I will report back after doing star tests and in-field testing.
Actually, the Monarch 82ED A is an alpha scope ...Even though I don’t have a lot of experience with so called alfa scopes I find it hard to believe that they can be a lot better than the 82eda with the BH zoom.
You said it, not me ☺️Actually, the Monarch 82ED A is an alpha scope ...

Which scope do you mean? The "old" Fieldscope ED82 or the Monarch 82ED? The zoom eyepieces are quite different.I am looking for a spotting scope for birdwatching, but I have been wondering if the price of Swarowski and Zeiss is reasonable in relation to performance. Then I found this thread and started thinking about whether Nikon's 82 ED-A could be an option. One thing I have noticed is that the Nikon tube has a narrower field of view, whether you use Nikon's own eyepiece or even more so if you choose the Baader Hyperion Universal Zoom Mark IV. Those of you who have experience with the Nikon tube, do you find that the field of view is a limitation? I also wonder how the Nikon eyepiece works if you wear glasses. I saw in another forum a user who firmly advised against the Nikon tube if you wear glasses.
There isn't a huge difference between the field of view of Nikon Monarch 82 vs Swarovski, provided you choose the Nikon 30-60x wide angle zoom eye piece. The standard 20-60 eye piece is a bit narrower alrightI am looking for a spotting scope for birdwatching, but I have been wondering if the price of Swarowski and Zeiss is reasonable in relation to performance.
