Nestling Swallows Falling from the Nest (1 Viewer)

I’ve had two nestlings fall to their death in as many days. I see the others still peeking over the edge of the nest. The first one was hanging by one foot but was alive, by the time I grabbed the ladder and ran back, it had fallen.

I’ve had the same nest for 5 years and never had this happen. They are up on my porch, very protected from the elements, except the temperature of course. I live in west Texas. I appreciate your thoughts.

I had an issue with Barn Swallows leaving the nest prematurely once. I found the birds heavily infested with mites. Whether that was the cause or just coincidental, I don't know.
