I just wanted to say hi. I just joined. I am from Denmark, and got my first binoculars back when I was 10 years old.
The reason I joined, is because today I bought binoculars at a second hand shop. They were for sale for 2usd roughly, but I paid a more for them - 40usd. It didnt feel right buying them for 2usd.
What are they? Well they are Carl Zeiss Jena Notarem 8x32b. They are in rough shape on the outside, but the inside works perfectly. Its also missing the case for it. However, they are by far the best binoculars I own.
Now, the difficult part. Where and when are they from? I googled them, and found out that you can tell through the serial number, when it was built. However, that cover - as well as the Carl Zeiss Jena cover, is long gone. So is there any way, the experts here, can figure out aprox when these were built - maybe by looking at the details? My personal guess is late 60s-early 70s but thats mainly because its when I was born
By the way, one thing I do like, is that you can adjust the clearness for each eye. Thats so cool, and its a big difference when you wear glasses like I do.
