I live in Ridgeland Mississippi and have a backyard full of birds. So far I have IDed 26 species. A beautiful bird visited my birdbath for a few sips of water today. I have never seen this bird before nor is it in any of the common bird books. I need help identifying it.
It has a very pale gray head, almost creamy, that transitions to a white breast and belly. The wings are gray like the mockingbird. The most outstanding quality is the tail, 3 ins. pure white.
Help.
Larry

Hi there Sally and a warm welcome to you from those of us on staff here at BirdForum (y)

Hi Sally and a warm welcome from me too. It does sound like it might be a leucistic Northern Mockingbird with an all white tail. If he returns, could you try and get an picture - the ID forum would try and help you identify it then.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I hope to hear about all the birds you see when out and about.

Hi, welcome to the forum. I think you will find us a friendly and helpful group. Sorry can’t help with an ID.
