[Grey Goose]

Hi people, I’m new to this site and I wouldn’t describe myself as a keen twitcher more a dog walker with a keen interest in my surroundings, I live close to the Wash and the North Norfolk Coast. Today on a North Norfolk beach I saw a small flock of birds that I was unsure off, I’ve checked various books and websites and the only thing I come up with is Cirl Buntings, a Sparrow sized bird with a greenish yellow face with a black eye stripe and a black chin with a pale greenish belly, looking for advice please

According to this forum’s encyclopaedia, cirl buntings are only found in the SW of England, but maybe the storm has blown them off course?

Hi Grey Goose and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators. Sorry, I can't fit anything to your description at the moment, so I've moved your post to the ID forum. Cirl Bunting are really only to be found down in Cornwall, so I do wonder if it was Yellowhammer you saw Yellowhammer - BirdForum Opus, more likely to be in flocks too I think. But the guys in here will soon sort this out LOL

My first thought too. There's been a flock of 14 in the Brancaster/Holkham Bay area.
