Nikon Coolpix P90? (1 Viewer)

Gillian_M

Birding since 2006!
I have just been told about the Nikon Coolpix P90 camera which has a 24x optical zoom (my current Sony Cybershot only has a 15x zoom) and I was wondering if anyone here has any opinions on it.

Well, I have one in addition to a Panasonic Lumix FZ18 and a Canon 1000D with Sigma 50-500

The P90 is a bit of a Prima Donna - sometimes it is mind blowingly good on maximum zoom - even better than the Sigma 50-500. Other times it is a mess! Of course, I may not be using it right but these are really point and shoot cameras - if you have 5 minutes to focus and mess about then you should probably be carrying a tripod and DSLR

On balance, we tend to walk around with the Lumix as it is a brilliant little camera overall. So, if forced to choose, I would go for the latest version of the Lumix (ie the Lumix DMC FZ38)
