That is because your eye sockets are deeper than mine and could be a different diameter. I have shallow eye sockets, so I have trouble with certain models of binoculars not having long enough eye cups for the ER, and the only way I can avoid black-outs is to float the binocular in front of my face. I guess when I make a statement like that, I should say your results could vary depending on your eye socket depth. I am always wary of binoculars with a long ER because sometimes the eye cups are not long enough for the ER.I disagree with the first sentence. I normally wear glasses when viewing through binoculars. I sometimes remove my glasses, particularly for prolonged viewing. I do not need to float the MHG 8x30 over my eye sockets to avoid blackouts. In fact i do not experience blackouts at all with the MHG 8x30, regardless of whether or not I am wearing glasses. So the eye cups are in fact long enough for me.
