Non-US Bird on TV (1 Viewer)

I was watching a PBS documentary "Woodpeckers: The Hole Story" which was fascinating! In the intro they show a woodpecker (I presume) that is never named or covered in the rest of the show. Anyway I'm pretty sure it is a woodpecker, and I'm confident it isn't from the US. But I don't know anything else about it. A picture is included. Sorry not a lot of info but I'm hoping someone can help identify this beautiful bird.
