North India trip (1 Viewer)

CyberDoc

Vagrant Birder
I have just returned from a North India trip including visits to the Bharatpur and Ranthambore National parks. I tried to identify and note down the the birds I observed [70 lifers] but these few remain unidentified for one reason or another.

Any help with ID would be appreciated. Thanks.

2: Common Babbler (based on white throat and dark eye)
5: I guess a Ruff (U-shaped white rump patch)
6/7: a rather pale Brown Rock-Chat? (some on Oriental Birdimages look similar)

Hi CyberDoc,

I agree with Joe about 1 and 3.
2 is one of the Turdoides Babblers, possible Common Babbler.
4 is certainly a female Sunbird, but I'm not sure I'd want to take it any further than that.
5 appears to be a Calidris wader of some sort, but again, I'm not sure I would like to be any more definite given that photo. EDIT: Actually, I think Xenospiza's suggestion of Ruff is more likely.
6 and 7 are Brown Rock Chat.

Cheers,

Stuart
