Hi,

I took this picture today in Fairfax County, Virginia.

My initial jizz was a Clay-colored Sparrow, but now I have doubts. In particular, I don't like the dark line in front of its eye, so I think it may be an immature Chipping Sparrow.

What do you think? Thanks in advance.

Howard

Yes, you are correct it is a immature chipping sparrow- note the eye-line (edited from eyeliner) that extends from eye to bill, while on a clay coloured sparrow it extends post ocular much like with the chipping sparrow but does not extend to the bill.
